Eliminate Leveling New Frets
SixStringers Caliper Adapter for measuring loose frets before installing:
PROBLEM: New frets are far from precision, they can vary in height across one fret by as much as .005" and vary as much as .01" across 22 individual frets.
With that kind of variance you are stuck with having to level those brand new frets, and that takes a lot of time and eats fret material hence fret life.
SOLUTION: Buy two packs of new frets, you will spend $15.00 more, sure, but you will save hours and hours in reward.
Measure each fret, the tang goes into the slot of the adapter, measure all across the fret, you want to see the same number perhaps allowing +/- .0005" tolerance, meaning, the target is for example .056" the acceptable numbers are .055" - .056" and .0565".
Sort as you go.
Now when you install these new sorted frets you will not have to level them. Awesome simple, it is the intelligent way to do it.
You will have 22 frets left over, this does not mean they are lost, many of them will be compatible with the next (3rd) package of frets and the sorting of those for the next guitar.

Typical StewMac pricing $10.00 for made in China calipers they sell for $75.00.
Also, they claim you can measure fret height, but... to accurately do so the calipers must be absolutely plum up and down exactly the same for every fret, which no human can achieve. So you will get many thousandths errors along the way.
It has the SM name on it like all of the tools they sell, and like those other tools, it is made in China, private label, and for that label you pay 2x to 4x, even 10x what the made in China tools are really worth.
